The Vulnerability of Goodness
Post 3 - Faith and Fear
When kindness keeps getting punished, people start looking for armor.
For many, that armor becomes faith--but not the gentle kind that heals.
Itâs the kind that promises safety through obedience and certainty through anger.
Fear turns faith inward. Instead of reaching out in love, it draws a line: us and them.
It trades the open hand of grace for the clenched fist of righteousness.
The God of mercy becomes a weapon against those who question or doubt.
Itâs easy to see why people fall for it. Fear feels powerful when wrapped in holy words.
It says, âYouâre protected now. Youâre chosen. Youâre safe.â
But safety bought with hatred isnât safety at all--itâs just another cage.
Real faith doesnât promise invulnerability; it invites courage.
It says, âLove anyway. Forgive anyway. Keep your heart open even when it hurts.â
Thatâs not weakness. Thatâs the strength that keeps the human spirit from disappearing.

Next time, Iâll write about Guarding the Light -- how to protect compassion without surrendering it, and how boundaries and empathy can live side by side.
