The Vulnerability of Goodness
Post 4 - Guarding the Light
Compassion is fragile only when it’s unguarded. The answer isn’t to stop caring--it’s to care wisely.
Boundaries are not barriers; they’re the walls that let kindness live inside a safe house. Without them, empathy burns out and trust turns bitter. With them, the heart can stay open without being devoured.
Guarding the light means learning when to step back, when to rest, and when to say “no” without closing the door forever. It’s the courage to keep your values while refusing to be anyone’s victim.
Kindness without wisdom is innocence. Kindness with wisdom is strength.
That’s how we protect goodness without surrendering it.
Evil wins when the good grow numb. But even a single person who keeps their compassion intact becomes proof that light still works.
